Nonsun was formed in 2011 in Lviv, Ukraine, by two musicians known as Goatooth and Alpha. From the very beginning, the band pursued a singular artistic vision, creating slow, atmospheric instrumental music that blended doom, drone and post-metal into deeply emotional soundscapes.
Their first release, the demo EP Good Old Evil, appeared in 2013 and introduced the band's dark, cinematic aesthetic. Later that year, Nonsun followed with the EP Sun Blind Me.
In September 2014, Nonsun played their first live show after being personally selected by YOB. Shortly afterwards, the band performed an unforgettable drumless concert in Lviv, Ukraine.
January 2016 marked the release of Nonsun's debut full-length album, Black Snow Desert. The album received widespread praise for its immersive atmosphere, emotional depth and uncompromising vision.
Following the album's success, Nonsun announced a CD and vinyl reissue of Black Snow Desert, released in January 2018 through Dunk!Records and Cimmerian Shade Recordings.
In April 2022, Nonsun released their long-awaited second full-length album, Blood & Spirit, through Dunk!Records. All proceeds from the album were donated to support Ukraine.
Only days after the album's release, the band suffered a devastating loss when former guitarist Taras was killed while defending Ukraine against the Russian invasion.
